Since 2017 when I started my life as a married man, I have lived in four different cities, and out of these, Abuja ranks number 1 when it comes to availability of corn. No kidding!

When I said four cities, I did not mean small cities, I mean big cities, namely Ibadan, Lagos, Dubai and Abuja. I rented apartments in these places and lived like every other person — except I always had a favourite corn seller.

While other states also have good fresh corn, what sets Abuja apart is the almost all-year round availability. It’s amazing!

I remember in January 2022 when I visited Abuja for passport renewal, there was fresh corn everywhere. How? Where is it coming from? As you know, corn is a seasonal food and people usually go on corn-break for about 3 months in a year, but in this Abuja, it’s just a month. Before you know it, everywhere is full of corn.

Hygiene is a big thing to consider when picking street food, so I don’t stop at every corner when I want to buy roasted corn. Sometimes, I buy the uncooked/unroasted ones and cook them at home but I never miss an opportunity to enjoy good corn at least once a week.

Thank you Abuja!
